We deliver the British National Curriculum at Keystage 3 with the MKA inclusive flair!
Classes for students from 12 to 14 years focus on
Core curriculum subjects: Numeracy, Literacy, Science, Social Studies, PE, Personal, Social, Health & Citizenship, French
Creative curriculum subjects: Drama, Art, Music, Design & Technology, Dance
An individualised approach ensures that teaching styles are adapted to each student.
The curriculum is differentiated to include all learners. Some students will work with an individualised plan of learning (IEP), with termly targets set towards the learning objectives in the IEP. Other students work targets set from the termly scheme of work.
Assessment (APP) is ongoing and is built into all activities so that a young person's development is nurtured and fostered. Standardised tests may also be carried out for some of our learners during the assessment periods as per the school timetable.
A Home/School book forms a link between home and school so that both parents/carers and teachers can communicate daily if necessary. Secondary learners and their parents access communication with their teachers through Dropbox.
Termly Report Cards are discussed with parents during Parent Conferences.
At Keystage 3 some students are following the traditional National Curriculum, whilst other students combine this with the ASDAN programme CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness). CoPE is a skills based programme (eg working with others, improving own learning and performance, research, giving an oral presentation)
At Keystage 4, learners may choose one of the ASDAN courses,
or follow the more traditional route of IGCSE and then A Level at Post 16.
