Welcome to the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)!
We are looking forward to this year and have high expectations for our team. Our major goal is to create consistent support programs that will teach your children the skills needed to lead a happy, healthy, and successful life. We have started working with your child and are looking forward to sharing our observations with you in the newly created Parent Communication Sheet or using other means. Juliet is a Physiotherapist from Ghana. Her journey as a physiotherapist began in 2011, in the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Ghana. Later on she worked in the clinical setting at hospitals and RIMA Theratouch. Juliet joined Multikids in 2014. She believes that every child deserves a chance to be able to fully participate in society as much as possible, in spite of limitations that are present. She is glad to be a part of an institution that champions the cause ‘Every Child Matters’.
Stella is a Physiotherapist trained in Ghana. She obtained her degree in physiotherapy from the University of Ghana in 2014 and continued to do a one year internship at the Tema General Hospital. After completion of her internship, Stella worked as a volunteer at ShareCare Ghana, an NGO in Osu for children with cerebral palsy. Stella joined Multikids therapy team in January 2016 and enjoys the experience so far.
Mairi is an Occupational therapist from the UK who trained in York and graduated in 2016. Mairi has had experience of working with both children and adults with learning disabilities in the UK. She has also had experience working in a children's multidisciplinary team alongside physiotherapists and speech and language therapists. She is excited to be here in Ghana and at Multikids!
Connie is a Speech and Language therapist (SLT) from the UK and graduated from the University of Reading in 2010. Connie has since worked as an SLT in the UK supporting children and young people with a variety of different speech, language and communication needs in a number of different settings. She is passionate about supporting and developing the communication skills of all the children and young people she works with.
Akua is the school nurse. She studied nursing in Dunkwa Nurses and Midwifery Training school. Her working experience spans for almost 7 years. Akua’s job is to provide health education and services to students, staff and parents. Moreover, she ensures that all students and staff are healthy and safe to carry out their daily tasks and responsibilities.
Lina is an Educational psychologist and Counsellor, as well as a leader of the MDT. Lina has two Master degrees in Psychology and Human Resource Management, has been trained in the United States to provide Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and has extensive experience working in various settings around the world. At Multikids Lina provides psycho-educational assessments, individual counselling, therapeutic group gatherings, as well as training to children, youth, and involved adults.
Nana Akua is a Speech and Language therapy (SLT) assistant from Ghana. Nana has been working at Multikids for 7 years as a Teacher. She has a degree in psychology and human development from Regent University of Ghana. Nana has shifted career path and is enjoying being trained in the new role as SLT assistant. Nana will start her masters in Speech and Language therapy at Korle Bu teaching hospital in August 2018. Nana loves children and is always ready to go the extra mile to help a child succeed.
Emmanuel is an Occupational therapist from Ghana. He has obtained a BSc in Occupational therapy from University of Ghana, and is among the first occupational therapists that graduated in the country. Emmanuel likes playing with children and helping them to perform daily activities. He believes that disability is influenced by the environment not the individual.
Adelaide has a Psychology degree from University of Ghana, Legon and graduated in 2013. Adelaide has been working at Multikids for a year, previously as a
Teaching Assistant and as a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant. She has just started an M.Sc in Speech and Language Therapy at University of Ghana, sponsored by Multikids.
Adelaide actively seeks opportunities to be involved in charity projects and to promote awareness of Learning Disabilities in Ghana.
